About Singapore
At first glance, this diamond-shaped island just off the coast of Malaysia gleams with modernism and commercialism, making it seem more Western than Eastern. But as you continue to discover the city-state, you'll uncover the eclectic mix of cultures, religions, ancient treasures and British colonial impressions that give rise to a unique Singaporean identity. The cultural fusion is perhaps best expressed in Singapore's unofficial language, Singlish, a unique patois of English, Chinese and Malay.
Singapore Attractions
Thian Hock Keng, the "Temple of Heavenly Bliss," is one of the oldest Chinese temples in Singapore. What was originally a makeshift altar became a full-blown temple in 1841, and it still shines today with red and black lacquer and gold gilt. The shrine honors Ma Po Cho, the Patron Goddess of Sailors, but it also gives a shout out to the Protector of Life, the God of War, the Goddess of Mercy and the Sun and Moon Gods through intricate carvings and statues.

About Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City, also referred to as Saigon, is Vietnam's most bustling and spirited city. Breathtaking in its scope of activities, culture and excitement, Ho Chi Minh City is a modern metropolis with attractions such as museums, art galleries and botanical gardens, along with cultural sites like elegant palaces and stunning pagodas.
Ho Chi Minh City Attractions
- The disturbing War Remnants Museum highlights the horrors of modern combat, and especially portrays the suffering inflicted on the Vietnamese people during the Vietnam War. Previously called the Museum of American War Crimes, the name was altered so as not to cause offence to American visitors, but its displays do tell the story from an anti-American perspective.
- Central Saigon - The Rex Hotel, a famous hangout for American officers during the war, has regained some of its previous glory and is once again the central hub of the city. Nearby is the impressive French-era Municipal Theater, which offers a varied program of events. Also close to the Rex is the magnificent pastel-yellow Saigon City Hall.
- Botanical Gardens - Located at the end of Le Duan Boulevard, the 130-year-old gardens boast a lovely collection of orchids and other flowers. The small zoo features a number of endangered indigenous animals, as well as other exotic exhibits from overseas.

About Da Nang
Da Nang is Vietnam's fourth largest city. Spectacular sights include the Cham Museum, with its stunning collection of Cham art and sculptures; the Marble Mountains and famous China Beach; and the ancient city of Hoi An.
Da Nang Attractions
- The centrally located city is also not far from other significant historic and cultural attractions including the ancient city of An Nasiriyah, which is about an hour away by car, and features some of the oldest surviving structures in the region.
- To the south of the Da Nang is the chain of Marble Mountains, five large hills that locals believed represented the five elements including Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth. There are numerous legends about gold hidden with the caves that are within the hills, but these are said to be protected by traps.
- Cao Dai Temple - For the more than 20,000 Cao Dai in Vietnam, this temple is the sect's centerpiece. As in all Cao Dai temples, above the main altar is the image of the Giant Eye, which is the symbol of Cao Daism. Most interesting is a sign which says "Van Giao Nhat Ly," meaning that all religions have the same purpose.
- Da Nang Cathedral - Built in 1923 by the French in pink sandstone with a single spire, the church serves Da Nang's Catholic community.
- Ho Chi Minh Museum - The museum features a replica of Ho's house in Hanoi as well as a collection of various weaponry of the Vietnam War.
Da Nang Activities
The sea is good for swimming all year round especially in summer from May to August because of the mild wave, the water temperature and the safeguard team that works from 5am to 8pm every day to ensure safety for tourists. Other activities here are fishing, water-skiing, diving and yacht race. Most beaches are easily accessible by means of transport.

About Victoria Harbor
Victoria Harbour is a natural landform harbour situated between Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong. The harbor's deep, sheltered waters and strategic location on the South China Sea was instrumental in Hong Kong's establishment as a British colony and its subsequent development as a trading center. Throughout its history, the harbor has seen numerous reclamation projects undertaken on both shores, but still retains its founding role as a port for thousands of international vessels each year.
Long famous for its spectacular views, the harbor is a major tourist attraction of Hong Kong. Lying in the middle of the territory's dense urban region, the harbor is the site of annual fireworks displays and its promenades are popular gathering places for tourists and residents.
Victoria Harbor Attractions
The Victoria Harbor is world-famous for its stunning panoramic night view and skyline, particularly in the direction towards Hong Kong Island where the skyline of skyscrapers is superimposed over the ridges behind. Among the best places to view the Harbor is at the Victoria Tower on the Victoria Peak, or from the piazza at the Culture Center or the promenade of Tsim Sha Tsui on the Kowloon side. Rides on the Star Ferry to view the harbor are also widely popular.
As the natural center of the territory, the harbor has played host to many major public shows, including the annual fireworks displays on the second night of the Lunar New Year. These shows are popular with tourists and locals alike, and the show is usually telecast on local television. To add to the popularity of the harbor as a sightseeing location, the government introduced a show dubbed A Symphony of Lights, using use audio, lights and pyrotechnics to introduce the city to its viewers every evening.
Also recently opened, was the Avenue of Stars, built along the promenade outside the New World Center in Tsim Sha Tsui. Modeled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it honors the most illustrious people the Hong Kong film industry has produced over the past decades.

About Xiamen
Xiamen, also known as Amoy, is a seaside village turned international port city in the Fujian Province of China. Sure, it has the skyscrapers and the hustle-and-bustle of many larger Chinese cities, but it's also known as China's cleanest and most relaxed city. With its charming old quarter, scenic countryside, tree-lined beaches and vehicle-free getaway island, Xiamen offers a pleasant respite with all the modern amenities.
Xiamen Attractions
Take a 10-minute ferry ride across the Egret River to the scenic island retreat of the early 20th-century wealthy, Gulang Yu. Gulang Yu means "Drum Wave Islet" for the beating sound of waves rushing through hollow rocks. It was the preeminent locale for the international community to build their opulent mansions. Stroll through the serpentine, cobblestone streets (bonus: no cars allowed) to view a wide variety of international architecture at its finest. Along the way, you'll find Asia's largest piano museum.

About Shanghai
Post-Mao-era Shanghai is light-years away from its restrained past (and even farther away from the equally unrestrained reputation it held for a long time before that). Today's Shanghai is firmly focused on the future, a bustling metropolis with a revitalized port and a sizzling art/shopping/restaurant scene that rivals even the most cosmopolitan of its Western cousins. Anyone with an eye for the global stage just has to see this city.
Shanghai Attractions
Once you've traced Shanghai's colorful past along The Bund (the famed colonial-era street that forms the city's waterfront) and the French Concession (a goldmine of art deco architecture), make time for the Yu Gardens in the Old City. Eighteen years in the making (and nearly obliterated during the Opium War in 1842), this exquisite example of Ming garden design is well worth the visit.

About Beijing
The capital as well as the second largest city in China is home to more than 14 million people and a whole lot of traffic - but many more reasons to make this the one city not to be missed in China. The energy is palpable. Gone are the days of buttoned tunic uniforms and conformity - replaced by a vivacious sense of individuality accentuated with pulsing colors and buzzing electronics. Sprinkled through it all are the notable treasures that hark back as early as the 7th century.
Beijing Attractions
Between the Imperial Palace (Forbidden City), Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall of China, it's hard to choose just one thing not to be missed. The good news is, you can see two of these together. The northern side of Tiananmen Square is adjacent to the Forbidden City. Take in the world's largest (and perhaps most infamous) public square, sprawling the size of 90 football fields, then enter the Forbidden City, so named because the home of the Chinese Emperor was closed to visitors until the 1920s. The palace's construction began in 1406 and holds many national treasures created over the centuries.

About Tokyo
Even though Tokyo is among the largest, most frenetic cities in the world, it's still able to maintain a great deal of efficiency and charm. Amid the endless buzzing neon signs and the overhead cable webs, Tokyo is home to some of the world's most impressive architecture, stylish shops and 4-star restaurants. But just a short distance outside the clamor of the city is a whole different world. In the surrounding small towns and villages you'll get a glimpse into Japan's rich culture and traditions. Here you'll discover scores of wooden residential homes, ancient temples, shrines and imperial gardens. From the frenzy-filled metropolis to the tranquil bonsai-tree-lined neighborhoods, Tokyo is truly a study in delightful contrasts.
Tokyo Attractions
Tokyo has so many incredible things for a visitor to see and do there just isn't time to do it all. But if you want to experience the true heart and soul of Tokyo, a visit to Kokyo, Japan's Imperial Palace, is a must. This magnificent, awe-inspiring edifice is an architectural marvel and home to the Emperor of Japan. Another cultural and architectural landmark not to be missed is the Sensoji Temple. Built in the 7th century, this is Tokyo's oldest and most significant Buddhist temple. This site is very popular with tourists, so plan to visit early. There are a number of traditional shops and restaurants nearby if the lines are long.

About Panama Canal
The Panama Canal was completed in 1914 under the administration of Teddy Roosevelt at a cost of $533 million, requiring 35,000 men and 10 years to build. An engineering marvel, no pumps are used in filling or emptying the locks or "steps" that rise and fall between the two mighty oceans on either side. The Canal saves 13,000 miles of ocean travel around the tip of South America for vessels that traverse the 51.7 mile course. It takes 58 million gallons of water for a single ship to descend the 85 feet from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and takes a mere 8 hours.
Panama Canal Attractions
While you're sailing through the Panama Canal, take time out to explore the beautiful surrounding area. A great way is a kayaking ecological tour through the islands that surround Gatun Lake. Rich in animal and plant life, these islands are home to 93 species of mammals, 366 species of birds and 1,368 species of vascular plants.
Panama Canal Activities
- Explore Portobelo, the former emporium of the riches of the New World, once an important commercial depot and a paradise for pirates.
- Take a tour of the Gatun Locks, once the most massive in the world and still an impressive sight today.
- Go monkey-watching on a tour of the small islands dotting the Chagres River.

About Cartagena
Walls built in the 17th century divide this prosperous city into "new" and "old" sections. Distinctive thick-walled houses with high ceilings and central patios typify the Iberian architecture found in the charming older district with its narrow and crooked streets.
Cartagena Activities
- Relax and enjoy an entertaining show of folkloric music and dance at the beautifully restored Heredia Theater.
- Ascend the city's tallest hill to the magnificent La Popa Monastary, from where you'll enjoy a spectacular view of the harbor with its unique mix of ancient forts and modern hotels and high-rises.
- Sail the bay in an authentic replica of a Spanish Galleon as guides regale you with tales both tall and true.
- Inside the walls of the old city you'll find the gracefully ornate Church of San Pedro Claver, built in 1603 and later dedicated to the patron saint of Columbia.

About Grand Cayman
Discovered by Columbus in 1503, these islands are a popular resort and British Crown Colony that still provides travelers with unspoiled beauty. As a destination known for its superb diving opportunites, the Caymans are home to unforgettable ship- wrecks, brilliantly colored fish and Caribbean-clear water.
Grand Cayman Attractions
Experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure: snorkeling with stingrays at Stingray City Sandbar. These relatively tame creatures will swim right into your arms and eat from your hand. They have velvety soft skin and love to have their bellies rubbed. Despite their frightening name, they are very gentle and won't hurt you as long as you stay away from their tails.
Grand Cayman Activities
- The Blow Holes are an amazing natural wonder. These geologic formations on Grand Cayman provide a wonderful photo opportunity. Waves crash on to rocks, forcing water into caverns and sending geysers shooting up through the ironshore.
- Visit Bodden Town, the Island's original south-shore capital. Here you'll find an old cemetery on the shore side of the road. Graves with A-frame structures are said to contain the remains of pirates. There are also the ruins of a fort and a wall erected by slaves in the 19th century.
- At the Cayman Island Turtle Farm you can see turtles in various stages of growth, and some can be picked up from the tanks -- a real treat for children and adults.
- The tiny village of Hell is little more than a patch of incredibly jagged rock formations called ironshore. The big attraction here are the small post office and a nearby gift shop, where you can get cards and letters postmarked from Hell.
- Formerly known as the West Bay Pink House, Old Homestead is probably the most photographed home in Grand Cayman. The pink-and-white Caymanian cottage was built in 1912 of wattle and daub around an ironwood frame.
- Built in 1780, Pedtro St. James Castle is Cayman's oldest stone structure and the only remaining late-18th-century residence on the island. The buildings are surrounded by 8 acres of natural parks and woodlands. You can stroll through landscaping of native Caymanian flora and experience one of the most spectacular views on the island from atop the dramatic Great Pedro Bluff.
- Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park is a 65-acre wilderness preserve that showcases a wide range of indigenous and nonindigenous tropical vegetation.
