Semarang Attractions The old city has colonial era buildings (Dutch) and is well worth a stroll. If you have time you should try and catch a traditional Wajang puppet performance. This graceful city on the island of Java is steeped in history and intrigue. It was here that the fossils of "Java Man" were found in 1890. The bustling port city of Kota Kinabalu boasts gardened homes and busy shopping districts with colorful native handicrafts. Just beyond the city limits lie the tropical jungle and the shrouded peak of Mount Kinabalu. Kota Kinabalu Attractions Major shopping malls are located along the main artery of Kota Kinabalu, and you find just about anything from branded goods to local handicraft. Recreational activities in KK include diving, a mere 15 minutes from the city in the crystal clear waters of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park! 10	Sunday, 3/9/14	About Bandar Seri Begawan Although most people refer to it as BSB, Bandar Seri Begawan is the official name of the capital of Brunei. It is probably where you'll spend most of your time and money. You'll probably just refer to the city and its suburbs as simply Brunei or Brunei City, since the country is so small. Bandar Seri Begawan Attractions You can see most of BSB's sights in a day. One of the most impressive things in the whole country is the Omar Saifuddin Mosque. At night it's particularly stunning with green lights illuminating the dome, casting a pleasant reflection in the pool below. Something not to miss if you like all that is gold and glittering is the free Royal Regalia Building, a museum of the sultan's treasures. But as you continue to discover the city-state, you'll uncover the eclectic mix of cultures, religions, ancient treasures and British colonial impressions that give rise to a unique Singaporean identity. The cultural fusion is perhaps best expressed in Singapore's unofficial language, Singlish, a unique patois of English, Chinese and Malay. Singapore Attractions Thian Hock Keng, the "Temple of Heavenly Bliss," is one of the oldest Chinese temples in Singapore. What was originally a makeshift altar became a full-blown temple in 1841, and it still shines today with red and black lacquer and gold gilt. The shrine honors Ma Po Cho, the Patron Goddess of Sailors, but it also gives a shout out to the Protector of Life, the God of War, the Goddess of Mercy and the Sun and Moon Gods through intricate carvings and statues.
